Windows 10: Update error 0x80072EE2

Is Windows 10 throwing error 80072EE2 in an attempt to open Windows Store and download an app? Here are a few hints what to do to fix this issue.

Error code 0x80072EE2 flags an update error, that has been covered within this Microsoft article (but for Windows 7). According to Microsoft, the Update client could not connect to the update server. The recommendation is: Try it again later.

If that doesn't help, the internet connection could be interrupted. Check, whether third party firewalls, internet security suites or VPN software could be the cause for this issue. Also wrong proxy settings may be a cause. You can check, whether proxy settings are wrong using Settings app in Windows 10 (or Internet options in other Windows builds).
