Jetzt berichtet The Register hier<\/a>, dass die auf den Bermudas beheimatete Anwaltsfirma Appleby<\/a> gehackt worden sei. Appleby ist eine gro\u00dfe Offshore-Anwaltskanzlei mit \u00fcber 400 Mitarbeitern (laut eigener Webseite). Der Hack passierte wohl bereits letztes Jahr. Nachdem eine Gruppe von Journalisten des International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), die die durchgesickerten Informationen gesehen hatten, anfingen diese an, unangenehme Fragen zu stellen. Daher trat Appleby die Flucht nach vorne an, die Firma hat am Dienstag den Hack in dieser Meldung<\/a> best\u00e4tigt:<\/p>\n Appleby has recently received enquiries from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ<\/strong>) and a number of media organisations who are partners of the ICIJ. These enquiries have arisen from documents that journalists claim to have seen and involve allegations made against our business and the business conducted by some of our clients.<\/p>\n We take any allegation of wrongdoing, implicit or otherwise, extremely seriously. Appleby operates in highly regulated jurisdictions and like all professional organisations in our regions, we are subject to frequent regulatory checks and we are committed to achieving the high standards set by our regulators. We are also committed to the highest standards of client service and confidentiality. It is what we stand for. This commitment is unequivocal.<\/p>\n Appleby has thoroughly and vigorously investigated the allegations and we are satisfied that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing, either on the part of ourselves or our clients. We refute any allegations which may suggest otherwise and we would be happy to cooperate fully with any legitimate and authorised investigation of the allegations by the appropriate and relevant authorities.<\/p>\n We are an offshore law firm who advises clients on legitimate and lawful ways to conduct their business. We do not tolerate illegal behaviour. It is true that we are not infallible. Where we find that mistakes have happened we act quickly to put things right and we make the necessary notifications to the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n We are committed to protecting our clients' data and we have reviewed our cyber security and data access arrangements following a data security incident last year which involved some of our data being compromised. These arrangements were reviewed and tested by a leading IT Forensics team and we are confident that our data integrity is secure.<\/p>\n We are disappointed that the media may choose to use information which could have emanated from material obtained illegally and that this may result in exposing innocent parties to data protection breaches. Having researched the ICIJ's allegations we believe they are unfounded and based on a lack of understanding of the legitimate and lawful structures used in the offshore sector.<\/p>\n The ICIJ themselves recognise the legitimacy of the offshore sector with the following statement on their website: \"There are legitimate uses for offshore companies and trusts. We do not intend to suggest or imply that any people, companies or other entities included in the ICIJ Offshore Leaks Database have broken the law or otherwise acted improperly.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Tenor: Man f\u00fchrt nur legale Rechtsgesch\u00e4fte durch und ber\u00e4t Klienten. Eine interne Untersuchung ergab, dass keine illegalen Aktionen durchgef\u00fchrt wurden. Nat\u00fcrlich sch\u00fctzt man die Daten der Kunden und verurteilt es, dass Medien in Daten w\u00fchlen, die sie illegal erhalten haben.<\/p>\n Die geleakten Daten wurden von der ICIJ analysiert. Das ist die gleiche Gruppe, die Panama Papiere nach dem Leck sichtete und auswertete.<\/p>\nDie Panama-Papers<\/a> d\u00fcrften den meisten Blog-Lesern ein Begriff sein (es sind vertrauliche Unterlagen des panamaischen Offshore-Dienstleisters Mossack Fonseca<\/a> bezeichnet, die infolge eines 2,6 Terabyte gro\u00dfen Datenlecks am 3. April 2016 an die \u00d6ffentlichkeit gelangten).
