Windows 10 Threshold 2 will be “Fall Update” Release 2015/11

Some News about Update Wave 2 for Windows 10, which is known as Threshold 2. According to a Blog-Post from Paul Thurrott, this update will be released in November 2015 as “Windows 10 Fall Update”.

Paul Thurrot reports, that Fall Update may be installed over RTM-Build 10240 of Windows 10 – there are no further requirements. If users are upgrading from Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, Windows 10 Fall Update will be installed.

To identify Windows 10 Fall Update, this Build will be report version 1511 (15 is year 2015, whilst 11 stands for November). This Build will change the activation method – if Windows 10 is installed on a machine and can’t be activated, a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 key may be used. Also a clean install accepts a valid Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 key.

Resetting Windows 10 will provide a fresh Windows 10 Fall Update and not Windows 10 RTM. The new build doesn’t come with too many functional and GUI changes (most of the cosmetic changes are documented in Insider builds released during the last weeks). My prediction for release date is 2015/11/10. BTW: Extensions for Edge will not be supported (it is planned for the Redstone update).
