Microsoft Patchday: Other Updates September 11, 2018

Windows Update[German]As of September 11, 2018 (Patchday) Microsoft has released further updates for Internet Explorer, Windows Server, etc.. This blog post contains details about selected patches that are not included in the other posts linked at the end of the article.

General information

With the September 2018 patchday, Microsoft has closed 61 security vulnerabilities (17 are critical, 43 are rated high) in Windows, Office and other Microsoft products. Among other things, the ALPC vulnerability in task planning has been closed. At least one of the vulnerabilities is currently being attacked. I don’t have to list the details here, an overview of the critical security vulnerabilities at Talos. The complete overview of all updates from Microsoft can be found on this website. Unofficial Updates for Windows Vista

If you are still using Windows Vista, you can download the updates for Windows Server 2008 from Microsoft Update Catalog and install them manually (see Windows Vista: Patching beyond EOL till January 2020).

    The meltdown/spectre Intel microcode updates [KB4100347, KB4090007, KB4091663, KB4091664 & KB4091666] have new revision dates – September 13, 2018. these new updates supersede the updates from KB4346084 to KB4346088.
