Blackberry detects Remote Access Trojan (RAT) ChaChi

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Security experts from BlackBerry's Threat Research and Intelligence team, have discovered the ChaChi remote access Trojan (RAT). The Trojan, which specializes in Windows systems, was developed by the hackers of the PYSA ransomware and attacks targets worldwide. In recent months, it has targeted educational institutions. The hackers, who have been attacking targets worldwide with ChaChi since summer 2020, operate from IP addresses in Germany and Romania.

John McAfee found dead in his spanish cell

John McAfee, the founder of the eponymous security software maker, is dead. He was found dead in his jail cell in Barcelona, according to authorities, hours after a Spanish court approved his extradition to the U.S. There are indications that the 75-year-old died by suicide.

Firefox 89.0.2 released

Mozilla[German]Mozilla's developers have released version 89.0.2 of the Firefox browser as of June 17, 2021 (hours after version 89.0.1). According to the release notes, the update fixes occasional hangs of the WebRender under Linux. The new Firefox can be downloaded from this website (the variant is to be selected via the displayed list boxes).

Windows 10 Version 21H1 deployment more widely (6/22/2021)

Windows[German]Microsoft is again expanding the range of machines to which the Windows 10 May 2021 Update (21H1) will be offered after its release in mid-May 2021 (see Windows 10 May 2021 Update (21H1) released (May 18, 2021)). This is now the second expansion, having already been distributed more broadly in early June 2021 (see Windows 10 May 2021 Update (21H1) is distributed more widely via machine learning).

DarkRadiation Ransomware targets Linux (Red Hat, Debian & Co.)

Windows 10 2004-21H1: Preview Updates (June, 21, 2021)

Windows[German]Following the preview update for Windows 10 V1909 (see Windows 10 V1909: Update KB5003698 released (June 15, 2021), Microsoft has released another optional cumulative (preview) update for Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2 and 21H1, as well as their Windows Server counterparts, as of 6/21/2021. Check Point finds four vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Security researchers from vendor Check Point have discovered four vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office through fuzzing. According to Check Point, products in the Office suite are affected, including Excel and Word. The vulnerabilities stem from outdated code and open up the possibility for attackers to execute malicious command lines via attempted Office documents.
