The batteries seems to degrade within weeks after the first year \u2013 just after the warranty is over. Now Microsoft has released a statement \u2013 it seems that the issue is software related.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Last week I've blogged about a battery issue on Surface Pro 3 devices (see <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2016\/07\/20\/akku-gate-surface-pro-3-and-the-sudden-battery-dead\/\">'Akku gate': Surface Pro 3 and the \"sudden\" battery dead<\/a>). The batteries of some devices degrades within weeks after the first year \u2013 just after the warranty is over. Here are a report showing the immediate graduation.<\/p>\n<p><p>There is a <a href=\"http:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/surface\/forum\/surfpro3-surfhardware\/surface-pro-3-battery-degradation\/783f6a00-19ba-4dcf-a828-0ad87751e15a?page=5&amp;auth=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lengthy thread<\/a> in Microsoft's Answers forum, where users complaining about that issue. Now Microsoft's employee Greg has posted the following statement within the thread linked above.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200517081328\/https:\/\/n03.imgup.net\/SurfaceProb6a8.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>He quote, that \u2013 based on Microsoft's investigations \u2013 that the issue isn't caused by the battery cells. The developers \"believe\" the issue can be fixed via software. Let's hope they are right.
