I just tested it, my Thunderbird portable reports version 60.9 as current. German blog reader Gerold writes here:

I have just had Thunderbird updated to 68.1.0 after clicking Help/About in version 60.9.0.

So it's probably an update for the Thunderbird 68.1.0 in the pipeline. Through this article at neowin.net I even became aware a couple of hours ago, that even version 68.1.1 of Thunderbird is available. A changelog or a readme doesn't seem to exist yet. At least the new build can be downloaded via FTP from the Thunderbird 68.1.1 website.

[German]The developers of the e-mail client Thunderbird have now released version 68.1.1.
