{"id":12745,"date":"2020-01-23T00:08:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T23:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/159.69.82.204\/win\/?p=12745"},"modified":"2024-10-03T07:17:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T05:17:42","slug":"windows-10-v1809-install-error-with-update-kb4534273","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2020\/01\/23\/windows-10-v1809-install-error-with-update-kb4534273\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 10 V1809: Install error with Update KB4534273"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: left; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; display: inline;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/win102.jpg\" width=\"58\" height=\"58\" align=\"left\" \/>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/?p=227353\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">German<\/a>]A short note for users of Windows 10 version 1809 who want to install the cumulative update KB4534273 I have just received some information that this causes installation errors on some machines and then a rollback is performed.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Update KB4534273 for Windows 10 Version 1809<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg05.met.vgwort.de\/na\/987c5a7c54554f72bebe2c3aba886331\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>The cumulative update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4534273\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4534273<\/a>, dated January 14, 2020, is intended to fix the vulnerability described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2020\/01\/15\/windows-server-vulnerability-cve-2020-0609-in-remote-desktop-gateway\/\">Windows Server: Vulnerability CVE-2020-0609 in Remote Desktop Gateway<\/a> blog and includes further quality improvements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updates support for Google Chrome's new cookie policies. Addresses an issue to support new <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200318120355\/https:\/\/chromestatus.com\/feature\/5088147346030592\">SameSite<\/a> cookie policies by default for release 80 of Google Chrome.<\/li>\n<li>Updates to improve security when using input devices such as a mouse, keyboard, or stylus.<\/li>\n<li>Security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Management, Windows Cryptography, Windows Virtualization, the Microsoft Scripting Engine, and Windows Server.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I introduced this update in the blog post <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2019\/12\/11\/patchday-windows-10-updates-december-10-2019\/\">Patchday Windows 10-Updates (December 10, 2019)<\/a>. Within my blogs I didn't receive feedback about major issues, only minor bugs mentioned.<\/p>\n<h2>Boot hung after install with rollback<\/h2>\n<p>A few hours ago I was informed on Twitter about installation errors in connection with the update via the following tweet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We are having massive issues with Cumulative <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Windows10?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Windows10<\/a> Updates now three times in a row. ~2% of the Computers won\u00b4t boot up anymore. Just the \"spinner\" with Logo can be seen. After booting into Safe Mode it makes automatically an Update Rollback. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/etguenni?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@etguenni<\/a>? W10 1809\/<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/KB4534273?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#KB4534273<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Fu Weissinger (@FuWeissinger) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FuWeissinger\/status\/1220018876769034243?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 22, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"preserve36094e9db58b429e996b8cf34f4b4092\" class=\"wlWriterPreserve\"><script src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On 2% of his machines the tipster gets massive installation problems. On three machines (he reports 2% of patched systems) Windows 10 V1809 refuses to boot after rebooting during the update installation. Only the logo with the spinning boot logo can be seen. The boot process must be aborted. If the administrator starts the Windows 10 machine in Safe Mode, an automatic rollback of the update installation is performed.<\/p>\n<p>Affected are Windows 10 version 1809 clients with the SSU of December 2019 installed. Updates are distributed via ConfigMgr. The virus protection is Symantec (SEP) 14.0 and 14.2. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FuWeissinger\/status\/1220057946664685569\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to Weissinger<\/a>, the issue occurs mainly on notebooks.<\/p>\n<p>Within <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sysnative.com\/forums\/threads\/error-0x800f0982-when-installing-kb4534273.30415\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this post<\/a> from the Sysnative forum a user reports the installation error 0x800f0982. Error 0x800f0982 indicates that required components were probably not found (PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). I wrote something about this in the blog post <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2019\/03\/15\/windows-update-ends-with-error-0x800f0982-0x8024200d\/\">Windows Update ends with error 0x800f0982 \/ 0x8024200d<\/a>. At reddit.com there is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Windows10\/comments\/eoowkp\/cumulative_updates_january_14th_2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this thread<\/a>, where a similar error is described. On appuals, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20231108124911\/https:\/\/appuals.com\/windows-10-latest-patch-kb4528760\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this article<\/a> takes the whole thing up without offering a solution.
