It is a maintenance update that fixes bugs and improves compatibility &amp; quality. <strong>Addendum:<\/strong> Nothing is old as the yesterday's newspaper. Five hours after release, whe have version 0.15.1 with a bug fix &#8211; and a new crash.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg08.met.vgwort.de\/na\/0eeb3bd1466f4b6d84971b898d4cf7c4\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>PowerToys were free programs under Windows 95\/98, with which certain Windows features could be optimized or adapted. Inspired by the PowerToys project under Windows 95, some developers dared to restart. The intended was to give power users the ability to get more efficiency out of the Windows 10 shell and customize it for individual workflows. The announcement tool place at the beginning of May 2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201127163302\/https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2019\/05\/09\/windows-10-powertoys-will-come-as-open-source\/\">Windows 10: PowerToys will come as Open Source<\/a>). More information can be found in the articles linked at the end of this blog.<\/p>\n<p>(PowerToys Settings)<\/p>\n<p>The PowerToys known from Windows 9x are also available in the version for Windows 10 Open Source and free of charge.<\/p>\n<h2>Bugfix update to PowerToys 0.15.0 available<\/h2>\n<p>I had already noticed it a few hours ago because Clint Rutkas posted <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ClintRutkas\/status\/1234859579558813698\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">another nebulous statement on Twitter<\/a>. Asked him to put finally the beef on the table, because I'm tired about the latest announcements in January\/February (it's something we called vapor ware in the 90ties). Over 100 bug fixes and some awesome improvements! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hDcIS2cVHm\">https:\/\/t.co\/hDcIS2cVHm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brandon LeBlanc (@brandonleblanc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brandonleblanc\/status\/1234920655906209793?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 3, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"preservecc1c11f7f2564a50a7f19bda0255996c\" class=\"wlWriterPreserve\"><script src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/PowerToys\/releases\/tag\/v0.15.0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">release notes<\/a> indicate that the developers' goal was to invest in infrastructure, quality, stability, and work on a way to automatically update PowerToys. Therefore, bugs in the individual modules have been fixed. The requirement to always run PowerToys with administrative privileges has also been dropped. The updated version of PowerToys 0.15.0 and the MSI installer can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/PowerToys\/releases\/tag\/v0.15.0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GitHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Within this GitHub post they are outlining their plans for the PowerToys Settings v2.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Addendum:<\/strong> This moring, after I woke up, I found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/04\/powertoys-0-15-0-freigegeben\/#comment-86223\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this German comment<\/a> within my blog. Five hours after release, whe have<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/microsoft\/PowerToys\/releases\/tag\/v0.15.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> version 0.15.1 with a bug fix<\/a> &#8211; and a new crash, as t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/04\/powertoys-0-15-0-freigegeben\/#comment-86231\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his reader wrote in a comment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Just installed 0.15.1, it closed the Explorer for installation and did not start the shell after installation. I had to start the explorer manually from the task manager to continue.
