This tool has the main interface hosted on Intel's support website and provides a more integrated support experience to users. It has an enhanced detection engine to ensure that customers are given complete and accurate information and a scan frequency option to change from a "run-once" tool to a persistent experience that can provide customers with driver updates more quickly.

The program must be installed on Windows before you can use it. As products supported by the wizard, Intel specifies graphics drivers, wireless networking, Intel® NUCs and Intel® Compute Sticks. If you have problems updating Intel® Driver & Support Wizard to a newer version, try an Intel uninstaller.

A reader feedback about issues

German blog reader Siegfried B. sent me an email complaining about issues with the Intel Driver 6 Support Assistant. He wrote:

the Intel Driver 6 Support Assistant probably just got an update to 20.4.17.5. It runs in the background and reports an update. If you click "check for new drivers" the default browser opens and the system is scanned. Then you get the error message: "Unfortunately an error occurred while scanning".

Up to now the program always ran on Windows 10 without any problems. If you look for the error on Google, it appears again and again, but there is no solution.

In fact, there are two entries in the Intel forums (according to Google search here in English and here in German). There are several users, but I haven't seen a solution.
