This is a result of a firmware update for several HP printers.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The issue raised up in HP's support forum <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20190806114620\/https:\/\/h30434.www3.hp.com\/t5\/forums\/searchpage\/tab\/message?filter=location&amp;q=cartridge+problem+damaged&amp;location=forum-board%3APostPrint&amp;sort_by=-topicPostDate&amp;s=ec&amp;s2=my\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. An HP expert <a href=\"http:\/\/h30434.www3.hp.com\/t5\/Inkjet-Printing\/Latest-HP-software-upgrade-excludes-non-HP-ink-cartridges\/m-p\/5762741\/highlight\/true#M572197\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">confirmed here<\/a>, the a new firmware for HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8615, 8620, 8625, 8630 is causing this issue. The site <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201025125258\/https:\/\/inkjet411.com\/?page_id=5769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inkjet411.com<\/a> has the details. HP's experts recommends to return refill ink cartridges to third party vendors.<\/p>\n<h3>The nasty details<\/h3>\n<p>HP released a new printer firmware version on March 12th 2016. And this printer firmware axes support for third party refill ink cartridges from September 2016 onward on the following printers so far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HP Officejet Pro 8610<\/li>\n<li>HP Officejet Pro 8615<\/li>\n<li>HP Officejet Pro 8620<\/li>\n<li>HP Officejet Pro 8625<\/li>\n<li>HP Officejet Pro 8630<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Users who hasn't installed the printer firmware are able to block the HP auto updates in printer settings as described <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201025125258\/https:\/\/inkjet411.com\/?page_id=5769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.
