The update is intended to remove the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED blue screen that some users got after the May 2020 patchday. Also, vulnerability in Realtek High Definition Audio Driver has been fixed.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>The KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED issue<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/vg04.met.vgwort.de\/na\/811fe63afe944079a0a0abcfa6c9bf14\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\">Cumulative update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4556799\">KB4556799<\/a> released on May 12, 2020 for Windows 10 version 1903, for Windows 10 version 1909, and for Windows Server version 1903 and Windows Server version 1909 caused some problems. On some HP machines ist causes a blue screen KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED\" alt=\"KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200708084916\/https:\/\/css-apj-api.ext.hp.com\/resource?s3Key=css-apj-km\/prod\/public-resource\/JP\/2020\/0521\/447f491c-991c-4a0d-b3c7-32d397a9ca70.png\"><br \/>(Source hp.com)<\/p>\n<p>The contribution from <a href=\"https:\/\/cs-apj.ext.hp.com\/css-apj-service\/doc.html?DOMAIN=JP&amp;docId=20001955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hp.com<\/a> shows the above image with the BlueScreen. I had pointed out such issues in the blog post <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2020\/05\/22\/windows-10-audio-install-issues-with-kb4556799\/\">Windows 10: Audio-\/ Install issues with KB4556799<\/a>. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/22\/windows-10-audio-installationsprobleme-bei-kb4556799\/#comment-89488\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this comment<\/a>, German blog reader Lucifer pointed to <a href=\"https:\/\/cs-apj.ext.hp.com\/css-apj-service\/doc.html?DOMAIN=JP&amp;docId=20001955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this document<\/a> from HP-Japan (where the above screenshot was taken). There were similar entries on the HP support pages &#8211; Woody Leonhard has taken up this in this post. Somewhere at Askwoody I read in the thread that there is probably a conflict with Windows Defender. He received \"HP Software Component 4.1.4.3079\" for the OMEN desktop computer via Windows Update on Sunday. Since then the BlueScreens are gone.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n<h2>Vulnerability in Realtek High Definition Audio Driver<\/h2>\n<p>The audio driver has also been updated according to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240103200755\/https:\/\/support.hp.com\/us-en\/document\/c06622884?hprpt_id=HPGL_ALERTS_2059454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this security bulletin<\/a> from HP. There was a vulnerability in the driver that allowed DLL preloading with corresponding risks.
