These updates are also available for Windows Server 2012 R2. Here is some information about them.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg04.met.vgwort.de\/na\/f9480f2e67d5405e90dd746d62916e2c\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>For Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 a rollup and a security-only update have been released. The update history for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4009470\/windows-8-1-windows-server-2012-r2-update-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this Microsoft page<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4009470\/windows-8-1-windows-server-2012-r2-update-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dieser Microsoft-Seite<\/a> zu finden.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Important: Starting in July 2020 all Windows updates disable the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows-server\/virtualization\/hyper-v\/deploy\/deploy-graphics-devices-using-remotefx-vgpu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RemoteFX vGPU feature<\/a> due to the <a title=\"https:\/\/portal.msrc.microsoft.com\/en-US\/security-guidance\/advisory\/CVE-2020-1036\" href=\"https:\/\/msrc.microsoft.com\/update-guide\/en-us\/vulnerability\/CVE-2020-1036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CVE-2020-1036<\/a> vulnerability (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4570006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4570006<\/a>). After installing this update, attempts to start virtual machines (VM) with RemoteFX vGPU enabled will fail. More information can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4565541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB article<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?linkid=2131976)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>KB4565541 (Monthly Rollup) for Windows 8.1\/Server 2012 R2<\/h3>\n<p>Update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/4565541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4565541<\/a> (Monthly Rollup for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2) contains improvements and fixes, and addresses the following items.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Addresses an issue that might prevent some applications from printing documents that contain graphics or large files after installing Windows Updates released June 9, 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Apps, Windows Graphics, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Kernel, Windows MSXML, Windows File Server and Clustering, Windows Remote Desktop, Internet Explorer, the Microsoft Scripting Engine, and Windows SQL components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This update is automatically downloaded and installed by Windows Update, but is also available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalog.update.microsoft.com\/Search.aspx?q=KB4565541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft Update Catalog<\/a> and via WSUS. In case of a manual installation, the latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/4566425\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4566425<\/a> dated July 14, 2020) must be installed beforehand &#8211; but this SSU cannot be uninstalled.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is aware of the following problem in connection with this update: Certain operations, such as renaming, that you perform for files or folders on a cluster shared volume (CSV) may fail with the \"STATUS_BAD_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL (0xC00000A5)\" error. This occurs if you perform the operation on a CSV owner node from a process that does not have administrator privileges. As a workaround, you can do one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform the operation from a process that has administrator rights.<\/li>\n<li>Perform the operation from a node that does not have CSV ownership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Microsoft is working on a solution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.<\/p>\n<h3>KB4565540 (Security-only update) for Windows 8.1\/Server 2012 R2<\/h3>\n<p>Update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/4565540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4565540<\/a> (Security Only Quality Update for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2) addresses the following items.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Apps, Windows Graphics, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Kernel, Windows MSXML, Windows File Server and Clustering, Windows Remote Desktop, and Windows SQL components.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The update is available via WSUS or in the <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.update.microsoft.com\/v7\/site\/Search.aspx?q=KB4565540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft Update Catalog<\/a>. For a manual installation, the latest Servicing Stack Update (SSU) <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/4566425\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4566425<\/a> must be installed first.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In addition, the security update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/4565479\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB4565479<\/a>\u00a0 for IE should also be installed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Servicing Stack Update KB4566425<\/h3>\n<p>On July 14, 2020 the Servicing Stack Update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/4566425\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KB456642<\/a> for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 was released. This update makes quality improvements to the service stack and ensures that Windows has a robust and reliable service stack to receive and install Microsoft updates.<\/p>\n<p>This update also fixes a privilege escalation vulnerability that exists when the Windows Modules Installer does not process file operations correctly. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could be granted elevated privileges. This security update resolves the vulnerability by ensuring that Windows Modules Installer correctly handles file operations.
