Details about the update packages for Windows, Office etc. are available in separate blog posts.

Servicing Stack Updates

Microsoft now publishes an overview of all current Servicing Stack Updates (SSUs). The list of SSUs can be found at ADV990001 (but is not always up to date).

Notes on the updates

Windows 10 version 1903 and 1909 use a common core and have an identical set of system files. Therefore, the same security update is delivered for Windows 10 version 190x. Information on how to enable the features of Windows 10 version 1909, which is done by an enablement package update, can be found in this Techcommunity article.

All Windows 10 updates are cumulative. The monthly patchday update contains all security fixes for Windows 10 and all non-security related fixes up to the patchday. In addition to the security patches for the vulnerabilities, the updates contain measures to improve security.

Windows 7 SP1 is no longer supported since January 2020. Only customers with an ESU license (or workarounds) will still receive updates. ESU Bypass is likely to experience problems in the August 2020 version, the update cannot be installed at this time (see this German discussion). Updates can also be downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog. The updates for Windows RT 8.1 and Microsoft Office RT are only available through Windows Update.

Information about the support period for Windows 10 can be found in the Windows Lifecycle Facts Sheet. However, due to the coronavirus crisis, Microsoft has postponed the end of the lifecycle for Windows 10 version 1709 (Enterprise/Education) and Windows 10 version 1809 (Home and Pro) until October 2020.

The security updates from September 2020 cover 129 security vulnerabilities (CVEs) in Microsoft products. Affected are Microsoft Windows, Edge (EdgeHTML-based and Chromium-based), ChakraCore, Internet Explorer (IE), SQL Server, ASP.NET, Office and Office Services, Web Apps, Microsoft Dynamics, Visual Studio, Exchange Server, ASP.NET, OneDrive and Azure DevOps. Of these 129 patches, 23 are classified as critical, 105 as important and one as moderately serious. Twelve of these patches were reported by the ZDI program. None of these bugs are listed as publicly known or actively attacked. A list of all security updates including CVEs can be found on the Zero Day Initiative blog and at Bleeping Computer(details are covered separately in blog posts).

Critical Security Updates

Internet Explorer 11
ChakraCore
Microsoft Edge (EdgeHTML-based)
Windows 10 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1607 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1709 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 1709 for ARM64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1803 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 1803 for ARM64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1809 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 1809 for ARM64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1903 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 1903 for ARM64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1909 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 1909 for ARM64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 2004 for 32-bit Systems
Windows 10 Version 2004 for ARM64-based Systems
Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems
Windows 7 for 32-bit Systems Service Pack 1
Windows 7 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1
Windows 8.1 for 32-bit systems
Windows 8.1 for x64-based systems
Windows RT 8.1
Windows Server 2008 for 32-bit Systems Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2008 for 32-bit Systems Service Pack 2 (Server Core
installation)
Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 2 (Server Core
installation)
Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-Based Systems Service Pack 1
Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1
Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1 (Server Core
installation)
Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2012 (Server Core installation)
Windows Server 2012 R2
Windows Server 2012 R2 (Server Core installation)
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2016 (Server Core installation)
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2019 (Server Core installation)
Windows Server, version 1803 (Server Core Installation)
Windows Server, version 1903 (Server Core installation)
Windows Server, version 1909 (Server Core installation)
Windows Server, version 2004 (Server Core installation)
Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2013 Service Pack 1
Microsoft SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 Service Pack 2
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 Service Pack 2
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 Service Pack 1
Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Service Pack 2
Microsoft SharePoint Server 2019
Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 Cumulative Update 16
Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 Cumulative Update 17
Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 Cumulative Update 18
Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 Cumulative Update 5
Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 Cumulative Update 6
Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 Cumulative Update 7
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Update 5
Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Update 5
Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Update 3
Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 version 15.9 (includes 15.0 –
