This is a maintenance update for the main 78 version of the email client that fixes security vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>German blog reader Gerold pointed out the update <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2020\/12\/16\/thunderbird-78-6-0-verfgbar\/#comment-99409\">here<\/a>. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/en-US\/thunderbird\/78.6.1\/releasenotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release notes<\/a>, there are the following changes: <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/vg06.met.vgwort.de\/na\/7b4a6e63e20343799fe6315ff1af9705\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\">  <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>MailExtensions: browserAction, composeAction, and messageDisplayAction toolbar buttons now support label and default_label properties<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition, the following bug fixes have been made: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>when running a quick search that did not return any results, the user was not offered to run the search again as a global search\n<li>Fixed a bug in the message search toolbar\n<li>In case of very long subject lines, the compose and view message windows were distorted, making them unusable\n<li>Compose window: recipient addresses that had not been auto-completed were lost when clicking the Send button\n<li>Compose window: new message is no longer marked as \"changed\" when tabbing out of the recipient field without editing anything\n<li>Account self-detection when using MS Exchange servers fixed\n<li>Fixed stability problem with LDAP address book\n<li>Messages with invalid vcard attachments were not marked as read in the preview window\n<li>Chat: TLS certificate exceptions for XMPP connections could not be added\n<li>Calendar: system time zone was not always detected correctly\n<li>Calendar: descriptions were sometimes empty when editing a single occurrence of a repeating event\n<li>Various bug fixes for printing\n<li>Visual consistency and design improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, there is a closed critical use-after-free vulnerability, which is documented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-02\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<h2>System requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The system requirements for the different operating system versions (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/en-US\/thunderbird\/78.0\/system-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see<\/a>, where more details can be found): n <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher\n<li>Mac: Mac OS X 10.9 or higher\n<li>Linux: GTK+ 3.4 or higher <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The download is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.
