When trying to install Microsoft Office 365, the Edge browser opens with the login page and then SmartScreen shows it as unsafe?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg04.met.vgwort.de\/na\/c9144d62c6834f72a4109c1a09a9024e\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>I received the case via email the day before yesterday from blog reader Sandro Silvestre in Brazil. The whole thing is very mysterious, so I'm posting it here on the blog. Sandro wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Site reported as unsafe by Edge \/ Microsoft Defender SmartScree: account.microsoft.com !!!<\/p>\n<p>This is just a report for something quite weird. No need for your support.<\/p>\n<p>I own a licence of Microsoft (Office) 365 Personal and I was about to install it on another computer. When I clicked on &lt;Install&gt;, Edge opened up and reported this:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is strange. During Microsoft Office 365 Personal installation on a 2nd machine, the login page for Office 365 from Microsoft shall occur. But he received a fat warning, after clicking the <em>Install <\/em>button in the im Setup dialog. The warning was shown in Edge browser aus shown below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/u4fzmJ4.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Edge warning about unsafe Office 365 login page\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/u4fzmJ4.png\" alt=\"Edge warning about unsafe Office 365 login page\" width=\"617\" height=\"347\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nEdge warning about insecure Office 365 sign-in page, <a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/u4fzmJ4.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click to zoom<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The message, issued by the SmartScreen filter, in Edge says that the Office 365 sign-in page has been reported as 'insecure'. Access is denied. The screenshot below shows the extended representation of the warning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/UWyEWwf.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Edge warning about unsafe Office 365 login page\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/UWyEWwf.png\" alt=\"Edge warning about unsafe Office 365 login page\" width=\"612\" height=\"344\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/UWyEWwf.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click to zoom<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the screenshot you can see that it is a Microsoft login page that is blocked. Sandro sent me the URL of the page &#8211; it does not trigger a warning for me. Sandro's Edge is version 88.0.705.50 (64-bit version), which is the same as the Edge I can use for testing here.<\/p>\n<p>The whole thing happened under Windows 10 Pro version 1909 (64 bit). OS build 18363.1256 was used, and Defender Antivirus shows version 1.329.2901.0 from Jan. 26, 2021. Ad-hoc I would have suspected a phishing attempt. However, since the warning is triggered from an Office 365 version, this is more than strange. Has anyone ever seen something like this or can make sense of it?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[German]Has anyone had this happen before?
