Microsoft has withdrawn an update and has now released a revised servicing stack update KB5001078 as a solution.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Windows 10\/Server 1607: Update hangs at 24 %<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg09.met.vgwort.de\/na\/8fe0e4712c374fd3be58381b797280d3\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>German blog reader Alexander Fritz described the problem with Windows 10 or Windows Server 1607 promptly in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2021\/02\/10\/patchday-windows-10-updates-9-februar-2021\/#comment-100874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this comment here<\/a> on the German blog.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On some Windows Server 2016 running VMware, KB4601318 seems to hang at 24%. After several reboots and attempts, I came across more fellow sufferers while researching (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/forums\/t\/743694\/windows-2016-server-kb4601318\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/forums\/t\/743694\/windows-2016-server-kb4601318\/<\/a>).<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg02.met.vgwort.de\/na\/8b5b637cfe5e4c15b922b8ee43d77a38\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Susan Bradley also addressed problems with update installation on Windows Server 1607 in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.askwoody.com\/2021\/server-patchers-issues-with-kb4601318\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">short post<\/a> on askwoody.com. She suspected KB4601318 as well as KB4535680 as the cause of the hang at 24%.<\/p>\n<h2>Update pulled, SSU\u00a0KB5001078\u00a0released as fix<\/h2>\n<p>Shortly after the release, the KB article <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/february-9-2021-kb4601318-os-build-14393-4225-c5e3de6c-e3e6-ffb5-6197-48b9ce16446e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB4601318<\/a> contained a note that there was a known issue, which caused the installation of further updates to hang at 24%. Microsoft then blocked the update. To fix the installation issue, the Servicing Stack Update (SSU) <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/kb5001078-servicing-stack-update-for-windows-10-version-1607-february-12-2021-3e19bfd1-7711-48a8-978b-ce3620ec6362\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB5001078<\/a> has been released. This Servicing stack update for Windows 10, version 1607: February 12, 2021 is available for the following products:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows 10 version 1607 for 32-bit systems<\/li>\n<li>Windows 10 version 1607 for x64-based systems<\/li>\n<li>Windows Server 2016<\/li>\n<li>Windows Server 2016 (Server Core installation)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/kb5001078-servicing-stack-update-for-windows-10-version-1607-february-12-2021-3e19bfd1-7711-48a8-978b-ce3620ec6362\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB5001078<\/a>\u00a0 is rolled out via Windows Update, but is also available via WSUS or is available for download from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalog.update.microsoft.com\/Search.aspx?q=KB5001078\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Update Catalog<\/a>. The SSU must be installed before installing the February 2021 security updates.
