However, there is feedback from blog readers that error 0x800421F7 was reported during the update installation. Here is some information on the issue.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg01.met.vgwort.de\/na\/5063d16dc8224b0f9b98f60b78797faa\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/16\/edge-89-0-774-68-als-sicherheitsupdate-2\/#comment-105489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this (German) comment<\/a> on the blog pos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/16\/edge-89-0-774-68-als-sicherheitsupdate-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edge Edge 90.0.818.39 als Sicherheitsupdate<\/a>, one affected person describes his observation:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg01.met.vgwort.de\/na\/8a5bd972afe646669ea283ff48ba8a71\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When I check for updates this morning on 2 PCs in Edge I get ithe error message:<\/p>\n<p>An error occurred while checking for updates: Unable to connect to the Internet. If you use a firewall, please allowlist MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe. (error code 7: 0x800421F7 \u2014 system level).<\/p>\n<p>Internet is OK. Do you have the same problem? Does MS have problems with the update servers for a short time?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This error message was confirmed by several users. One user reported that when refreshing the update search several times, the error sometimes occurred, sometimes not.<\/p>\n<h2>Error 0x800421F7: Internet connection problems<\/h2>\n<p>Error code 0x800421F7 indicates Internet connection issues between the Edge updater and Microsoft update servers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.askvg.com\/fix-errors-and-problems-while-installing-microsoft-edge-web-browser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This article<\/a> also lists the error text <em>Can't connect to the Internet or an error occurred while checking for updates for this error code<\/em>. When this error message is displayed, the general advice is to check the Internet connection and proxy settings.<\/p>\n<p>You can try running the network connection troubleshooter, using custom DNS settings, or resetting the network adapter to resolve this error message. In the current case, however, it seems that the Microsoft update servers are simply having trouble delivering the Edge update. The updater is running into a timeout and throwing the error message. German blog reader Klaus addressed it in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/16\/edge-89-0-774-68-als-sicherheitsupdate-2\/#comment-105497\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this comment<\/a> as well. .<\/p>\n<p>My advice is to simply wait a few hours and do nothing. Then the error should disappear.
