It is a maintenance update for the 78 major version of the email client that fixes several bugs and vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/vg04.met.vgwort.de\/na\/a1fb5f7dea0e49f4b5da8c94c02a13e1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\">Thanks to Gerold for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2021\/05\/06\/thunderbird-78-10-0\/#comment-107260\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tip<\/a>. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/en-US\/thunderbird\/78.10.2\/releasenotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release notes<\/a>, the following new features (among others in the area of OpenPGP key import) have been implemented in the email client in this version:&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Added support for importing OpenPGP keys without a primary secret key\n<li>Add-ons manager displays a preferences icon for mail extensions that include an options page<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The list of fixes in this update is also much larger than in 78.10.1. OpenPGP proves to be a constant work in progress, but some quirks have been fixed. Here are the fixes:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OpenPGP messages with a high compression ratio (over 10x) could not be decrypted\n<li>Selected OpenPGP key was lost after opening the Key Properties dialog in Account Settings\n<li>Parsing some OpenPGP user IDs failed\n<li>Various improvements to OpenPGP partial encryption reminders\n<li>Troubleshooting information page did not display row labels on macOS\n<li>Mail toolbar buttons were too big when displaying both icons and text<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two vulnerabilities<\/a> are fixed that are rated low.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CVE-2021-29957: Partial protection of inline OpenPGP message not indicated\n<li>CVE-2021-29956: Thunderbird stored OpenPGP secret keys without master password protection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Concerns both times the security of OpenPGP messages and keys. <\/p>\n<h2>System requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The system requirements for the different operating system versions (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/en-US\/thunderbird\/78.0\/system-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for more details):&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher\n<li>Mac: Mac OS X 10.9 or higher\n<li>Linux: GTK+ 3.4 or higher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By the way, Thunderbird is free, and the download is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[German]The developers of the Thunderbird email client have released Thunderbird 78.10.2 on May 17, 2021.
