This is a maintenance and security update for the 78 development branch that should fix several bugs and four vulnerabilities rated as high.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/vg05.met.vgwort.de\/na\/59e40abb4be841689aa183b28edbdcbc\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\">I have already been alerted to this update by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borncity.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/03\/thunderbird-78-11-0\/#comment-110393\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog readers<\/a> (thanks for that). According to the release notes, several fixes and improvements have been made. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sending an email that contained HTML links with spaces in the URL sometimes resulted in broken links <\/li>\n<li>Fixes to the display theme of the folder window for macOS <\/li>\n<li>Chat account settings were not always saved as expected <\/li>\n<li>RSS feed subscriptions were sometimes lost <\/li>\n<li>Calendar: A parsing error for alert triggers of type \"DURATION\" caused synchronization problems for some users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this page<\/a>, the update fixes some vulnerabilities rated as high.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-30\/#CVE-2021-29969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CVE-2021-29969: IMAP server responses sent by a MITM prior to STARTTLS could be processed<\/a>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-30\/#CVE-2021-29970\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CVE-2021-29970: Use-after-free in accessibility features of a document<\/a>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-30\/#CVE-2021-30547\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CVE-2021-30547: Out of bounds write in ANGLE<\/a>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/security\/advisories\/mfsa2021-30\/#CVE-2021-29976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CVE-2021-29976: Memory safety bugs fixed in Thunderbird 78.12<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>System requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The system requirements for the different operating system versions (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/en-US\/thunderbird\/78.0\/system-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for more details):  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher <\/li>\n<li>Mac: Mac OS X 10.9 or higher <\/li>\n<li>Linux: GTK+ 3.4 or higher <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The download is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.
