Do you have error messages in the log files since 1/1/2022 that indicate a date error? I guess the firmware has the same problem as Microsoft Exchange, that a date conversion leads to an overflow.

On reddit.com there is currently a post Sonicwall Y2K22 bug that suggests, tha the firmware also has a year 2022 bug. The reddit post reports the following:

Sonicwall Y2K22 bug

So aparently Microsoft Exchange is not the only Product that has some issues with timestamps for 2022. Our Sonicwall E-Mail Security Appliance stopped updating its Mail Flow logs and Junk Box after 01/01/2022.

Found the following in the log files:

{"type":"FATAL", "line":" 37", "time":"2022-01-02T09:45:51,321", "user":"",
"logger":"com.sonicwall.common.HandleException:doCriticalAlertAndLogExceptionToFile()",
"msg":"Exception: For input string: "2201020002"", "exp":"
java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "2201020002" at
java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatException.java:65)
~[?:1.8.0_292]" }

So also there is a problem with the string 2201020002 when converting it to a number. The person affected then posted the whole thing on reddit.com in the SonicWall subgroup. There, other affected people confirm the issue. Within my German blog post, a user has added a statement from SonicWall:

This is a known issue, and this is what I have been providing customers since yesterday morning:

This is essentially the same thing that took MS exchange down. They devs are already testing the hotfix they have put together to address it. I will keep you updated and let you know when it has been posted

I haven't found the statement on the web yet. Meanwhile, another user has confirmed on reddit.com that the cloud versions of the email security appliance would have received an update on Jan. 1, 2022.

[German]A quick information/question for the administrators who have a SonicWall email security appliance in use.
