Then, of course, good advice is expensive and the question arises as to the cause of the error or a workaround for the installation abort. Since this error has been encountered again by users during the February 2022 patchday, here is a short explanation of what you should know.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Windows Update error 0x8024001E<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/vg04.met.vgwort.de\/na\/6d46626e73a14d81b3f4fabad22c7126\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\">The error code 0x8024001E stands for WU_E_SERVICE_STOP, because a service has been stopped (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2016\/11\/29\/windows-how-to-decode-update-0x8024-errors\/\">Windows: How to decode update 0x8024\u2026. errors<\/a>). The error description is:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>0x8024001E WU_E_SERVICE_STOP Operation did not complete because the service or system was being shut down.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The transaction in question could not be completed because the service or system was shut down. If a shutdown can be ruled out, the question remains as to what is causing this problem.<\/p>\n<h2>Internet Explorer: Temporary folder undefined<\/h2>\n<p>In many cases, the download of the updates fails because the path to the Temporary Folder for Internet Files (in Internet Explorer or Edge browser) is undefined. Or there are access problems with the destination folder. You can go to Internet Options of the Control Panel or the <em>Tools<\/em> menu button of Internet Explorer and then select the <em>Internet Options<\/em> command. Then go to the <em>General<\/em> and click the <em>Settings<\/em> button of the Browsing History group. Go to the&nbsp; \"Temporary Internet Files\" tab. There is the path unter <em>Current location <\/em>and should be set to: <\/p>\n<pre>C:\\Users\\\u2026.\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Temporary Internet Files\\<\/pre>\n<p>(set via <em>Move folder<\/em> if necessary).
