Microsoft has released at 03\/08\/2017 an undocumented update 'Microsoft \u2013 WPD \u2013 2\/22\/2016 12:00:00 AM \u2013 5.2.5326.4762' for  Windows 7, 8.1, 10. It was an optional update, but no details has been provided. <\/p>\n

I recommended to hide this update to my blog readers. Shortly after releasing this update, I received many notifications, that this update kills mobile device detection on Windows machines. After analyzing the update package, I came to the conclusion, that it contains drivers for Android devices. But it ships also a MTP driver library \u2013 und this .dll killed mobile device detection (also on Lumias). <\/p>\n

Based on my solution, I also have posted in Microsoft Answer, Microsoft pulled the faulty driver update came a few day later with some instructions to fix this issue. On March 28, 2017 Microsoft has released a revised MTP driver update, described within article KB4016754<\/a> )MPT driver update causes USB connected phone or portable device issue. This update shall fix the 'Microsoft \u2013 WPD' driver bug. <\/p>\n

This update includes a fix for an incorrect device driver (\"Microsoft \u2013 WPD \u2013 2\/22\/2016 12:00:00 AM – 5.2.5326.4762\") that was released by a third-party on March 8, 2017 that affected a small group of users with USB connected phones or other media devices that rely on Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). If the driver is on your system, when any of these devices are connected, Windows will try to install this driver. These devices will not be connected until the driver is removed. This incorrect driver was removed from Windows Update the same day, but it may have been downloaded to your computer. After installing this update the incorrect driver will be removed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
