Here are a few details about that process.

Microsoft starts today (April 11, 2017) the Windows 10 Creators Update rollout via Windows Update (WU). But many users won't receive this update for weeks, because Microsoft processes the rollout in waves. This shall avoid to much trouble, because machines quoted as not critical during telemetry data will be updates first. But it's possible, to force a feature upgrade to Windows 10 version 1703 (Creators Update) manually using Windows Upgrade wizard.

How to obtain Windows Upgrade wizard?

Windows Upgrade wizard supports a manual upgrade from a running Windows 10(RTM-Version 10240, Version 1511 or Version 1607) to version 1703. Microsoft provides the Windows Upgrade wizard (Windows10Upgrade28085.exe) via web.

If you go to KB4014184, you will find a link to this Windows 10 download site "Download Windows 10" . If this site is browsed from Windows 10, you will find a button Update now (see above) to download the upgrade wizard.

If this web sites is browsed from Windows 7/8.1, only a Download tool now button will be visible. This button downloads Media Creation Tool.

Just execute Windows10Upgrade28085.exe after download from Windows 10 and confirm the UAC prompt.

Upgrade step by step

After launching the upgrade wizard, you will be guided through the update install. The screenshots shown below are taken from my German Windows 10.

Click the button Upgrade now shown within the first wizard window. The click the Next button.

The wizard downloads all files required for the feature update. This can take hours (depend on internet speed).

If you reboot Windows during this process, the download begins again from 0. I've had this case in a virtual machine, where upgrade install hungs at 99 % – and after a re-boot, the wizard starts downloading agin from 0%.

After download, the wizard verifies the files and shows a progress window (see below).

Then the wizard prepares the update, which will be shown in a window. If all things are prepared, you will see a reboot countdown as shown below.

Then Windows restarts and begins to install the feature update in Windows PE.
