[German<\/a>]Microsoft Outlook 365 users might be affected by crashes that occur right after application launch. As of September 5, 2022, Microsoft has published a support post with notes on a fix for these crashes. Here is a brief overview of this issue.<\/p>\n

Outlook crash issue<\/h2>\n

\"\"In August 2022, users were annoyed by Microsoft Outlook 365 crashes. The application was terminated again by a runtime error shortly after it was launched. I had reported about this issue in the articleMicrosoft: Workaround for Outlook crash; rollback of Microsoft 365 to version 2205<\/a>. Once users launch the Outlook application on the desktop, it opens briefly after loading the profile and processing, and then stops responding. Users can search for event 1000 or event 1001 and the following event details in the Windows Event Viewer application log:  <\/p>\n

If these entries are present and crashes occur, this is because the data value of the string EmailAddress under the Office identity in the registry is empty. There was a workaround from Microsoft by manually correcting the registry entry in question – and it was possible to roll back to version 2205.  <\/p>\n

Fix for the crash problem<\/h2>\n

Then last Friday, Microsoft updated the October 2022 section of his Outlook issues page<\/a>. There you can also find the updated post Outlook closes shortly after it is opened<\/a>, where Microsoft says now:<\/p>\n

STATUS: FIXED<\/b> <\/p>\n

This issue is fixed in Current Channel Version 2209 (Build 15629.20156) and Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview) Version 2208 (Build 15601.20158). As these builds get to the other channels the fixes will follow.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So no more workarounds are necessary, if the update for a channel is available. Just assure, that this update has been installed. Was anyone affected by this bug? (via<\/a>) <\/p>\n
