It's a bug-fix update, which is supposed to fix a number of issues. Because somehow the 102 development thread of Thunderbird is a disaster (see Thunderbird 102er: The problem bear).

Thunderbird 102.4.0

According to the Thunderbird Release Notess, the following changes have been made in this release:

Thunderbird automatically detects and repairs OpenPGP keystore corruption caused by using the Profile Import tool in Thunderbird 102.

In addition, there are fixes to the following bugs that are listed as fixed:

Downloading POP messages to a large folder (~13000 messages) caused Thunderbird to freeze temporarily.

Forwarding messages with special characters in the subject failed under Windows

Links for FileLink attachments were not added if the attachment filename contained Unicode characters

The display area of the address book continued to show contacts after deletion

When printing the address book, not all contact details were displayed

CardDAV contacts without the Name property were not saved in Google Contacts

"Publish calendar" did not work

Improvements in saving calendar databases

Incorrectly handled error responses from CalDAV servers sometimes caused events to disappear from the calendar

There are also several unspecified visual and UX improvements. The developers write that there is an issue with Google Calendar. You may have issues with syncing or displaying appointments. It should be noted that appointments still exist on Google's site, even if they are not displayed in Thunderbird. The developers are working with Google to resolve the issue.

Tip: Going back to an old Thunderbird version after updating to a newer version is rejected if the profile is updated (see also).
