The EU has set December 28, 2024 as the start date from which this obligation will apply. This implements a decision by the EU Parliament in October 2022 to introduce the USB-C interface as a common charging port for a wide range of electronic devices.<\/p>\n

Was a very long road that started over a decade ago (see my blog post USB-C as a uniform standard for charging cable is coming in Europe<\/a>). Till now it was only known, tha from 2024, all cell phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU would have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port. The new regulations apply to different electronic devices, according to the EU:<\/p>\n
