Kevin Gallo has been a developer at Microsoft since 1993 and until most recently held the position of \"corporate vice president\" for the Windows Developer Platform. Gallo has just announced he is leaving that post and Microsoft after nearly 30 years. To that end, he writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\"\"After nearly 30 years working for Microsoft, I made the tough decision this past week to take some time away from my desk at Microsoft.\u00a0It has been such a great honor and privilege to work with so many amazing people \u2013 where together we have invented the technology that everyone uses in their daily lives. \u00a0Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I could be a part of this all.\u00a0We've made some wonderful products and platforms together \u2013 and worked with so many great customers, partners, and developers. \u00a0I am so proud of all that we have accomplished.\u00a0I just sat and stared at some of my Ship It awards \u2013 amazed at just how many teams I have been blessed to be a part of \u2013 who built products that seemed impossible to create when we started. \u00a0Together, we gritted it out, and made something our customers loved. It is never easy to step away and make changes in life \u2013 but this gives me an opportunity to spend more time on other interests.\u00a0My volunteer work with young adults and teens has always been important to me, and I plan to put more energy into that for a season. \u00a0I may even consider getting directly involved in education and teaching. And of course, I am not going to hang up my developer hat \u2013 but will keep coding and building experiences \u2013 so expect to hear from me when I find bugs and issues.\u00a0I know who you all are.\u00a0In other words, I will still be around the developer sphere and trying out some new stuff.\u00a0However, I do NOT plan to start using a Mac \u2013 that would just be too much.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
