The bottom line is that this will lead to massive price increases. But CheckMK has probably also massively increased its prices in 2024, as a reader told me a few days ago (he pointed this out here in a German comment).

What is CheckMK?

CheckMK is a software developed in Python and C++ for the service monitoring of IT infrastructure. It is used to monitor servers, networks, applications, public clouds, containers, storage, databases and environmental sensors.

CheckMK is available in four editions: an open source edition (Checkmk Raw Edition), a commercial enterprise edition (Checkmk Enterprise Edition), a commercial version with extended cloud monitoring features (Checkmk Cloud Edition) and a commercial edition for managed services providers (Checkmk Managed Services Edition). These Checkmk editions are available for a range of platforms. The following information refers to the commercial versions of the software.

Massive price hike

German blog reader Christian K. had already contacted me at the end of June 2024 because he had noticed massive price increases in the commercial versions of CheckMK. He wrote: "I don't know when exactly this was implemented, but I am now allergic to the pricing strategy of "We'll just increase the lower prices". CheckMK is also such a candidate." Christian used the Wayback Machine to determine prices from March 2023.

Old CheckMK prices from 2023

He then called up the current prices for the CheckMK products and documented them using a screenshot.
