How is Windows 11 actually doing in terms of user favor? After all, Windows 10 is now only in support for another year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Operating system share across all platforms<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg07.met.vgwort.de\/na\/e451af4cf6ac432db13da038e0bd7a58\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>The website statcounter.com has <a href=\"https:\/\/gs.statcounter.com\/os-market-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> the market shares of various operating systems (desktop, mobile devices). Android accounts for 45.16% in September 2024 (increase), while Windows runs on 26.67% of systems (share down). Apple can be satisfied with 18.12% for iOS (increase) and 5.61% for macOS (decrease). Linux has a meagre 1.64% market share (slightly up on <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2024\/01\/03\/operating-system-windows-share-december-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">December 2023<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"statcounter operating system share Dec. 2023\" src=\"https:\/\/i.postimg.cc\/YS0hrJYn\/image.png\" alt=\"statcounter operating system share Oct. 2024\" width=\"640\" height=\"587\" \/>Operating system shares all platforms October 2024, source: statcounter<\/p>\n<h2>Operating systems share Desktop<\/h2>\n<p>For desktop systems, the website statcounter.com <a href=\"https:\/\/gs.statcounter.com\/os-market-share\/desktop\/worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gives the market shares<\/a> of various operating systems as 73.31% for Windows (up from 12.2023) and macOS at 15.45% (down from 12.2023), while Linux accounts for 4.48% (down from 3.82% since 12.2023) of systems. ChromeOS from Google reaches 2.25% (down) of desktop systems, while 4.49% of operating systems could not be identified.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"statcounter desktop operating system share Dec. 2023\" src=\"https:\/\/i.postimg.cc\/pdT8jr5R\/image.png\" alt=\"statcounter desktop operating system share Oct. 2024\" width=\"640\" height=\"644\" \/>(OS Market Share 10.2024)<\/p>\n<p>The figures of <a href=\"https:\/\/gs.statcounter.com\/os-version-market-share\/windows\/desktop\/worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Windows operating system shares<\/a> on the desktop then gives this picture: Windows 10 comes in at 62.25% (67.46% in 12,2023), while Windows 11 has risen to 33.37% (from 26.52% in 12,2023). Windows 7 still runs on 2.85% of systems, while Windows 8.1 barely plays a role at 0.36%. The following diagram shows that the market share of Windows 10 is continuously decreasing, while Windows 11 is slowly increasing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gs.statcounter.com\/os-version-market-share\/windows\/desktop\/worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Windows market share 12.2023\" src=\"https:\/\/i.postimg.cc\/mg84q2Xc\/image.png\" alt=\"Windows market share 10.2024\" width=\"640\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWindows market share 10.2024<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, Windows 11 is really struggling to achieve significant market share.
