The bug crept in via the January 2025 update and probably occurred under Windows 11 24H2.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I don't remember seeing any reader reports about this. But Microsoft writes in the support article <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/unable-to-drag-and-drop-emails-to-folders-in-classic-outlook-6f7f196b-b334-429e-b8fa-9b2c8f3626b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unable to drag and drop emails to folders in classic Outlook<\/a>, that there have been issues.<\/p>\n<p>After installing the Windows 11 24H2 preview update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/january-28-2025-kb5050094-os-build-26100-3037-preview-78fda0ea-79e9-468d-8a77-de7914ca1aef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">KB5050094<\/a>from January 2025 and subsequent updates such as <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/february-11-2025-kb5051987-os-build-26100-3194-63fb007d-3f52-4b47-85ea-28414a24be2d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">KB5051987<\/a> from February 2025, the drag &amp; drop bug could occur on systems with Windows 11 version 24H2. Users were then unable to drag and drop emails or calendar items into folders in classic Outlook.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.postimg.cc\/B6XNJDJn\/image.png\" alt=\"Microsoft Outlook-Problem\" width=\"502\" height=\"274\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Microsoft had already documented this a week ago. This problem was fixed with the update <a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/topic\/february-25-2025-kb5052093-os-build-26100-3323-preview-053856ea-f984-4bdb-866c-5f356f5a451b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-bi-type=\"anchor\">KB5052093<\/a> for Windows 11 version 24H2, dated February 25, 2025 (<a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2025\/02\/26\/windows-10-11-preview-updates-feb-2025\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">Windows 10\/11: Preview Updates Feb. 2025<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has also provided a workaround if the preview update cannot yet be installed. To do this, simply deactivate the Outlook setting \"<em>Optimize for compatibility<\/em>\" via the <em>File<\/em> tab and the <em>Options<\/em> command.
