Firmware update from March 4, 2025<\/h2>\n

HP has released a firmware update version 20250209 for its LaserJet MFP models M232-M237 on March 4, 2025. The firmware update contains security fixes, adjustments for legal requirements as well as general improvements and bug fixes. For example, there are corrections for IPP Everywhere.<\/p>\n

Users complain about broken printers<\/h2>\n

Shortly after the firmware update was released, owners of HP LaserJet MFP models M232-M237 began complaining about problems with their devices. On March 6, 2025, a user reported in the HP forum with this post<\/a> and complained that his HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe Printer was suddenly causing trouble.<\/p>\n

He installed a toner cartridge about a month ago without any problems. But on March 6, 2025, an error code 11 suddenly appeared and the toner light must be flashing. The error code means that the printer no longer accepts or recognizes the cartridge.<\/p>\n

The user was unable to rectify the error and then purchased a replacement cartridge. This works perfectly and the user asks if he can send the defective toner cartridge back to HP.<\/p>\n

HP is aware of the problem<\/h2>\n

HP states that the problem is already known and the development team is working on a solution. Affected customers can contact the support team<\/a> for assistance. It is not known how many printers are affected by this problem. However, HP has a bad name with me in this regard, as it has repeatedly happened in the past that printers from this manufacturer no longer accepted third-party ink cartridges after a firmware update.<\/p>\n
