Update KB4034664\/KB4034679 is causing the issue<\/h2>\n

The Microsoft updates KB4034664 and KB4034679 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 were identified as the cause of this problem. The problem occurs when the second monitor has negative coordinates for display (see screenshot below) and has been confirmed by Microsoft (see my German blog post Microsoft best\u00e4tigt Multimonitor-Bug in KB4034664\/KB4034670<\/a>). <\/p>\n

A first fix with Update KB4039884 failed<\/h2>\n

On August 25, 2017 Microsoft released update KB4039884<\/a> for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack. According to the kb article, it should fix the multi monitor bug. But this update causes other issues (see Windows 7: KB4039884 fixes dual monitor rendering bug<\/a>). The patch has been pulled. <\/p>\n

Additional fixes?<\/h2>\n

On August 30, 2017 Microsoft released revision 34 for Update KB4039884 in Microsoft Update Catalog. German blog reader Info noted that within this comment<\/a> an. And German blog reader Eric commented<\/a> an:<\/p>\n

Fixed problems with this update. If you want to install this update, you should uninstall the old version of KB4039884 first.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

German blog reader Eric geod\u00e4t<\/a> confirmed, that the revised update fixed the dual monitor bug. But this packet needs to be downloaded and installed manually. And the old update has to be uninstalled first.  <\/p>\n
