Some Windows users are also complaining that logging in via Windows Hello no longer works after installing the April 8, 2025 updates on Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025. Here is a brief overview of this problem and a workaround.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Security updates April\u00a08,\u00a02025<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg06.met.vgwort.de\/na\/f5a0b71786be47fcbee1c8597031c79a\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>April 8, 2025 was patch day, and Microsoft has closed a number of vulnerabilities in Windows with security updates. Information on the server updates can be found in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/win\/2025\/04\/09\/patchday-windows-server-updates-8-april-2025\/\">Patchday: Windows Server-Updates (April 8, 2025)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Windows Hello broken on Windows 11 24H2\/ Server 2025<\/h2>\n<p>Microsoft has added another entry in the Know Issues for the cumulative update <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/help\/5055523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB5055523<\/a> for Windows 11 24H2 and for the cumulative update\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/april-8-2025-kb5055523-os-build-26100-3775-348facce-4988-4c6a-8cb9-50cab59fd385\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB5055523<\/a> for Windows Server 2025 (noticed by colleagues <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/microsoft\/microsoft-april-2025-updates-break-windows-hello-on-some-pcs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>). It states that Microsoft is aware that there is a problem with Windows Hello. This problem occurs on devices with certain security features enabled.<\/p>\n<h3>Sign in via Hello fails<\/h3>\n<p>After installing this update and performing a keystroke reset or resetting the computer under <em>Settings &gt; System &gt; Recovery<\/em> and selecting the <em>Keep my files and install locally<\/em> option, some users may not be able to sign in to their Windows services using Windows Hello facial recognition or PIN. Windows Hello broken on Windows 11 24H2\/ Server 2025<\/p>\n<p>You may see a Windows Hello message that says: \"Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again\" or \"Sorry something went wrong with face setup\".<\/p>\n<h3>Error only under certain conditions Sign in via Hello fails<\/h3>\n<p>This issue only affects devices that have <a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/windows\/security\/hardware-security\/system-guard-secure-launch-and-smm-protection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-bi-type=\"anchor\">System Guard Secure Launch<\/a> or the <a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/windows\/security\/hardware-security\/how-hardware-based-root-of-trust-helps-protect-windows#secure-launchthe-dynamic-root-of-trust-for-measurement-drtm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-bi-type=\"anchor\">Dynamic Root of Trust for Measurement (DRTM)<\/a> feature enabled after installing this update.
