Its installation caused problems for some users. The update was therefore withdrawn and the out-of-band update KB5063060 was pushed late in the evening on June 11, 2025.

Cumulative Update KB5060842 for Windows 11 24H2 causes issues for some users – ther compatibility issues. Microsoft then has released the out-of-band update KB5063060 for Windows 11 24H2, to fix the issue. On June 10, 2025, later in the evening, I came across several media notices and the following tweet.

On June 10, it was initially stated that the original update would be made available in stages for devices with Windows 11, version 24H2. However, Microsoft has identified a compatibility issue that affects a limited number of these devices. If a device is affected, it should receive a revised update with all the June 2025 security improvements "shortly". There is also an entry in the Windows 11 Message Center with an corresponding announcement.

A revised out-of-band update KB5063060 for Windows 11 24H2 was then released, and can also be found in the list of Windows 11 updates on this Microsoft website. Microsoft writes that this out-of-band (OOB) update contains quality improvements, is cumulative and includes the security fixes and improvements from the June 10, 2025 security update (KB506842). In addition, it is disclosed what has been fixed:

[Fix for incompatibility issue with Easy Anti-Cheat] This update addresses an incompatibility issue where Windows might restart unexpectedly when opening games that use the Easy Anti-Cheat service. Easy Anti-Cheat automatically installs with certain games to enhance security and prevent cheating in multiplayer online PC games.

It is important to note that this OOB update is automatically downloaded and installed by Windows Update and Microsoft Update on devices that have Easy Anti-Cheat installed. The same applies to devices that have not yet installed the original KB506842 update. So if you have successfully installed update KB506842, you do not need to do anything – for those affected, the update will be installed automatically. Notes on problems (currently with Asian fonts) are documented in the support article.

Similar articles:
Microsoft Security Update Summary (June 10, 2025)
Patchday: Windows 10/11 Updates (June 10, 2025)
Patchday: Windows Server-Updates (June 10, 2025)
Patchday: Microsoft Office Updates (June 10, 2025)

Windows 10/11: Preview Updates May 27, 28,2025
Attention: June 2025 Patchday closes vulnerability CVE-2025-33073 in Windows
Windows network vulnerability CVE-2025-33073 (Reflective Kerberos Relay Attack)

[German]Brief addendum from June 10/11, 2025 – Microsoft fell a little short on Patchday (June 10) with its Windows 11 24H2 update KB5060842.
