The package also contains updates to the versions of OpenSSL 3.0.15, 7zip 24.09 and uriparser 0.9.7.

Norddeutsch had pointed out the release in the discussion area of my German blog and provided the following information (thanks). I'll pull it out into a blog post here.

Changelog or release notes here

The version mapping is on vmware and under Broadcom

Direct links to Broadcom, and to old VMware here

Broadcom continues to limit downloads for direct links to installers. For example, the URL softwareupdate.broadcom.com/cds stored in the player does not have a successful lookup. An update in the program is therefore not possible and a manual download via the customer login is required. This was already evident during the takeover of previous player and workstation versions:

Vmware reports on "in-product URLs" or "download tokens" in May 2024, VirtualizationHOWTO talks about locking in March, and Major Geeks writes about the lack of update functionality here.

Basically, the above-mentioned tool update URLs currently resolve to the same IPs. There is simply no destination or redirection for updates from Workstation or Player. The behavior seems to be desired without a token or prior login to Broadcom.

[German]VMware by Broadcom has just released Vmware Tools 13.0.0 build 24696409.
