The company has apparently botched two portal updates within two weeks. Here's a brief overview of these issues.

I haven't been following it, but The Register covered it in this article. At the end of August, VMware by Broadcom informed its customers "that they will soon" be migrating from the existing VMware Cloud Services Portal to a new Cloud Services Console.

The portal upgrade should offer VMware customers "a superior experience" in managing their clouds, writes The Register. "Experience" always makes me nervous; it sounds like crap and hassle, experiences no one wants to go through voluntarily. But VMware customers are already used to grief with this kind of thing—I'm thinking of the migration of customer accounts, including VMware licenses, from VMware to Broadcom (see VMware OEM portal offline, customers cannot activate VMware licenses).

On September 13, 2025, according to The Register, VMware announced that the migration would take place between September 19 and 21, 2025. The existing VMware Cloud Services Portal would be available in read-only mode during the upgrade process.

Customers who were still waiting for the migration on September 21, 2025, were in for a surprise. On the last day of the planned migration, VMware wrote to its customers—or so The Register reports—"We would like to inform you that the planned transition from the VMware Cloud Services Portal to the new Cloud Services Console on Broadcom will not take place on September 21 as originally announced."

The "superior experience" will likely have to wait a while longer. The Broadcom business unit did, however, promise to attempt this update again the following weekend in September. But this attempt also failed, according to The Register.

The Register apparently has a message dated September 26, 2025, which now states: "Our internal teams need additional time to ensure the smoothest possible transition to the new Cloud Services Console on Broadcom. Therefore, our new launch date is being pushed back to this weekend between September 26 and 28."

These dates have also since passed. The Register logged into VMware's Cloud Services portal between these specified dates. Notifications appeared there stating that the migration was in progress.

But on Monday, September 29, 2025, an email arrived stating: "Ahead of the launch planned for last weekend, our internal teams have decided to postpone the migration date to Cloud Services Console on Broadcom." According to The Register, the relevant Broadcom business unit now intends to complete the migration between October 3 and 6, 2025. Is any of our readers affected by this migration?

Similar articles:
VMware OEM portal offline, customers cannot activate VMware licenses
Broadcom ends perpetual licenses for VMware products – End of the free ESXi server?
VMware by Broadcom: "Things are not going well with the Broadcom plans"
Analyses: VMware acts as planned with licenses; switching to alternatives a problem
VMware users: Attention, portal migration to Broadcom on April 30, 2024
VMware Player/Fusion Player is End of Sale; VMware security advisories now at Broadcom
Customer loss at VMware; Customers switch to Nutanix AHV; Bumpy portal switch
VMware by Broadcom signs agreement with Dell, Microsoft, Lenovo and HPE
Did the User Portal migration from VMware to Broadcom work for you?
Interview: VMware takeover by Broadcom, what are the consequences?
Analysis: More than half of VMware customers are planning to leave
VMWare by Broadcom: Next fail with training credits
Has Broadcom's VMware bet paid off?
