This security update is intended to address a security issue in the RRAS management tool (Windows Routing and Remote Access Service). As far as I can tell, it is only available via the Hotpatch channel.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vg07.met.vgwort.de\/na\/9b3a5ca0c920481e876bc42b9247aecf\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>I became aware of this issue through the following post on neowin.net, which was documented by Microsoft on <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/release-notes-for-hotpatch-on-windows-11-enterprise-version-25h2-0bbaa1c7-5070-41ca-a7c9-4ead79602dbf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.neowin.net\/news\/kb5084597-microsoft-outs-windows-11-25h2-24h2-emergency-update-for-a-critical-network-flaw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-322624\" title=\"Windows 11 24H2-25H2: Hotpatch KB5084597\" src=\"https:\/\/borncity.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-28.png\" alt=\"Windows 11 24H2-25H2: Hotpatch KB5084597\" width=\"510\" height=\"531\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/march-13-2026-hotpatch-kb5084597-os-builds-26200-7982-and-26100-7982-out-of-band-ef323fee-e70f-4f43-8bbc-1021c435bf5c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB5084597<\/a> hotfix for Windows 11 24H2\u201325H2, Microsoft states that a security issue in the management tool for the Windows \"Routing and RAS\" (RRAS) service has been resolved. The issue stemmed from the fact that, when connecting to a malicious remote server, an attacker could disrupt the tool or execute code on the device. Three vulnerabilities <a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/msrc.microsoft.com\/update-guide\/vulnerability\/CVE-2026-25172\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-bi-type=\"anchor\">CVE-2026-25172<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/msrc.microsoft.com\/update-guide\/vulnerability\/CVE-2026-25173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-bi-type=\"anchor\">CVE-2026-25173<\/a>, and\u00a0<a class=\"ocpExternalLink\" tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/msrc.microsoft.com\/update-guide\/vulnerability\/CVE-2026-26111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-bi-type=\"anchor\">CVE-2026-26111<\/a> have been fixed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[German]Microsoft has unexpectedly released an emergency update (hotfix) for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 on March 13, 2026.
