The problem has now been fixed. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Issues with Outlook after patchday?<\/h2>\n<p>On September 12, 2017, Microsoft released security updates for Outlook 2010, 2013, and 2016 that caused problems for some users accessing archived emails. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veritas.com\/support\/en_US\/article.000127958\" target=\"_blank\">Veritas support page<\/a> writes, that updates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=55881\" target=\"_blank\">KB4011089<\/a> for Outlook 2010\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=55930\" target=\"_blank\">KB4011090<\/a> for Outlook 2013\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=55941\" target=\"_blank\">KB4011091<\/a> for Outlook 2016<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>are causing issues. After installing those Microsoft Security patches for Outlook, users are unable to access archived emails. Upon double clicking on the shortcut it will open the shortcut only with the banner: \"The item has archived by Enterprise vault. Click here to view the original link\". Also the 3 updates under <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.msrc.microsoft.com\/en-US\/security-guidance\/advisory\/CVE-2017-11774\" target=\"_blank\">CVE-2017-11774<\/a> are blocking CRM access from Outlook. Uninstalling the updates fixes the issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Solutions and workarounds<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veritas.com\/support\/en_US\/article.000127958\" target=\"_blank\">Veritas support page<\/a> provides a workaround for the archived mail issue. German blog reader Axel H. informed me, that the issue as been fixed. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We also have problems with the three patches from here: <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.msrc.microsoft.com\/en-US\/security-guidance\/advisory\/CVE-2017-11774\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/portal.msrc.microsoft.com\/en-US\/security-guidance\/advisory\/CVE-2017-11774<\/a> or its predecessors.  <\/p>\n<p>Here is a problem mentioned, that affects us and others: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veritas.com\/support\/en_US\/article.000127958\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.veritas.com\/support\/en_US\/article.000127958<\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>(is probably fixed by the manufacturer since the day before yesterday&#8230; if you would use the latest version&#8230;) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If the newest version of the security updates to close <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.msrc.microsoft.com\/en-US\/security-guidance\/advisory\/CVE-2017-11774\" target=\"_blank\">CVE-2017-11774<\/a> are installed, the issues mentioned above should be fixed. Perhaps it helps, if you are affected.
