\"\"Tolino<\/a> is a brand name of e-readers<\/a> and tablets marketed by leading booksellers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in cooperation with Deutsche Telekom. Since 2014, the e-reader has also been available in Belgium, Netherlands, and Italy. The Japanese company Rakuten has been responsible for development since the beginning of 2017.<\/p>\n

And now there's trouble with a firmware update. It has already been mentioned in comments of my German article<\/a> about the Gutenberg blocking access for Germans. The last firmware update bricks the Tolino readers. Johannes Haupt published the information on lesen.net in this article<\/a> (I know him since the days of Eee PC, where we both blogged about). <\/p>\n

Firmware update to version 11.2<\/h2>\n

The firmware update to version 11.2 has been released in February 2018 (the Tolino support page is rather chaotic and meaningless in that way). This updates brings some fixes and improvements. <\/p>\n

After the release of the (already withdrawn) firmware update 11.2 device on which this firmware has been installed, can't found WLAN. Resetting to factory defaults (as suggested by Tolino) did not help with this bug.  <\/p>\n

On February 24th, a German blog reports that there was probably a revised update of firmware 11.2. This update howerver completely bricked the devices, as this comment entry reveals.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
