The odd thing: This certificate may be used to sign own certificates and decrypt https-data. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The first note about that incident came at reddit.com in a thread <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/technology\/comments\/3twmfv\/dell_ships_laptops_with_rogue_root_ca_exactly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dell ships laptops with rogue root CA, exactly like what happened with Lenovo and Superfish<\/a>. Then arstechnica.com has published an article <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/security\/2015\/11\/dell-does-superfish-ships-pcs-with-self-signed-root-certificates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dell does a Superfish, ships PCs with easily cloneable root certificates<\/a> covering this issue. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200516163703\/https:\/\/o67.imgup.net\/Dell-CA024d6a.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Dell users can run a shot <a href=\"https:\/\/edell.tlsfun.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">test on this site<\/a> to check, whether the eDellRoot certificate is installed.
