For more information about an issue that this update fixes which affects settings preferences, please see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 3121244.

Windows 10 version 1511 updates are cumulative. Installing this update requires a re-boot.

What's fixed/changed?

After installing this update, winver reports build 10686.14. Much more interesting is KB article KB3121244 (Title: Some settings may not have been retained when applying the November update (Version 1511)). Within my blog post Windows 10 Version 1511 via Media Creation Tool "is back" I reported, that Microsoft has withdrawn download of build 10586 due to a bug in privacy settings (see also).

And Microsoft promised to fix that bug with another update. According to KB3121244 update KB3120677 fixes this privacy settings. Other changes are listed within this CSV file.

Are there issues with KB3120677?

One of my German blog readers reported a BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONE_PAGING_AERA. He always got this BSOD while installing cumulative updates. The workaround is: Download KB3120677 and install it manually. This fixed also the "stuck at 45%" error reported here.

At reddit.com there is this thread, where someone claims issues with Google Chrome browser. His workaroud: load chrome browser with option –no-sandbox. Another user reports graphics driver crashed.

Here someone reports install error 0x800706D9. According to this Microsoft KB article, activating the Windows Firewall shall cure this issue. Some users of third party internet security suites (Norton, Kaspersky) are at high risk facing this error. In this case, just uninstall the AV program and use the vendors clean tool.

Another user reported install error 0x8009310b. This is an error not specifically related to this update. I found this old Win XP MS Anwers forum thread (and this thread) dealing with this error. It seems that a failure in encryption causes this error. A solution is mentioned here.

BTW: Some users reported, that AppData gained 800Mb after the update and disk clean-up freed 799MB of disk space.

[German]This night Microsoft has released another cumulative November update KB3120677 for Windows 10 Version 1511.
