Details in the blog post: https://t.co/i3cL8R8xgo

— Windows Insider (@windowsinsider) 30. Oktober 2018

It is already version 2 of the cumulative update KB4464455 – the first version I had discussed in the blog post Windows 10 V1809: Update KB4464455 for Insider.

ZIP bug fixed

One of the fixed issues concerns the ZIP function of Windows 10 V1809. In the blog post Windows 10 V1809: Write bug in ZIP feature I had discussed this error extensively. Windows 10 V1809 refused to copy a file when extracting ZIP archives if the same file object was found in the destination folder. There was no query whether the file should be overwritten. The bug was known to Microsoft and fixed in the Insider Preview of the branch Windows 10 19H1. With the update KB4464455 v2 this bug should be fixed. Microsoft writes:

We fixed the issue where dragging (extracting) files from a .zip file in File Explorer to a write-protected location you don't get a "Do you want to replace these files" prompt and the copy action fails silently.

So Microsoft is even faster than I expected. The fix was actually scheduled for November 2018-Patchday.

What else to know

Update KB4464455 v2 is only distributed to Windows Insider participants. Specifically, testers who are registered in the Slow and Release Preview ring get it. I have Windows 10 V1809 running on a test machine (installed before Microsoft had withdrawn it). Nothing is found there during the update search. So it could still be that the fix will generally be distributed in November 2018..

Update KB4464455 raises Windows 10 V1809 (October 2018 Update) to build number 17763.107. The cumulative update contains the same fix as KB4464455 v1 (which was distributed in the Slow and Release Preview Ring on October 16, 2018 and generated build 17763.104). In addition, besides the ZIP bug fix mentioned above, a problem with profiles is fixed. Microsoft writes about it:

We fixed an issue causing roaming profiles to not work correctly.

Microsoft currently does not seem to be aware of any (major) problems with Windows 10 V1809. So the re-release of Windows 10 October 2018 Update could be soon.

Similar articles:
Windows 10 V1809: Update KB4464455 for Insider
Windows 10 V1809: Write bug in ZIP feature
Windows 10 V1809: ZIP bug confirmed

[German]Microsoft has released the KB4464455 (v2) update for Windows Insider.
