This is a new major version which introduces new features.

I had already seen this information on December 10, 2018 at ghacks.net, but my Firefox 63.x didn't find an update yet. Now I have searched for updates via the menu and the help command About Firefox and got the update offered for installation.

The changelog contains a number of new functions in addition to some critical security fixes:

Better recommendations: You may see suggestions in regular browsing mode for new and relevant Firefox features, services, and extensions based on how you use the web (for US users only)

Enhanced tab management: You can now select multiple tabs from the tab bar and close, move, bookmark, or pin them quickly and easily

Easier performance management: The new Task Manager page found at about:performance lets you see how much energy each open tab consumes and provides access to close tabs to conserve power

Improved performance for Mac and Linux users, by enabling link time optimization (Clang LTO). (Clang LTO was enabled for Windows users in Firefox 63.)

More seamless sharing on Windows: Windows users can now share web pages using the native sharing experience. You can access Share in the Page Actions menu

Added option to remove add-ons using the context menu on their toolbar buttons

New for enterprise users: Updated the policy engine on macOS to allow using configuration profiles to customize Firefox for enterprise deployments.

Unfortunately, the display of RSS feeds has also been removed from the browser; add-ons are now required to display them. Furthermore, Firefox kicks 64 Symantec certificates and no longer classifies them as trustworthy. Furthermore, about:crashes has been reworked for crashes and the MacOS keyboard shortcut for adding "www" and ".com" to a URL is now Ctrl-Enter instead of [apple]-Enter. For developers, there are also minor new features. Martin Brinkmann has decribed the new browser features here. The feature Contextual Feature Recommender (CFR) will initially only be activated for the USA – but you will at least get to know what the Mozilla developers are thinking about. You can download the browser here or on this page.

Mozilla's developers have just released version 64 of the Firefox browser for Windows, Linux and macOS.
