But you can fix that.

Last week I reported about the release of the new graphics driver in the German blog post Windows 10: NVIDIA GeForce 430.39 WHQL-Treiber. Now I came across this German article from my colleagues at deskmodder.de. The program nvdisplay.container.exe is causing a high CPU load – since the Nvidia Geforce 430.39 graphics driver is installed under Windows 10.

The problem has been around for a long time

I found this thread in Geforce forum, where this effect has been discussed a while ago. If you search the web, you'll come across numerous articles that mention a load on the system caused by the program nvdisplay.container.exe.

All articles that locate a virus can be ignored – the program nvdisplay.container.exe belongs to Nvidia. It is probably a program for telemetry data acquisition. At German site ComputerBase I came across this post from May 2019, where someone complains about the CPU load of the program. There is already a suggestion of simply deleting some files.

Delete some folders

A few days ago this thread was created within the Geforce forum, which also deals with the high CPU load. In this post a solution has been proposed: simply delete two folders in order to disable the program nvdisplay.container.exe.

C:\\Program Files\\NVIDIA Corporation\\Display.NvContainer\\plugins\\LocalSystem\\DisplayDriverRAS
C:\\Program Files\\NVIDIA Corporation\\DisplayDriverRAS

To delete the folders, the program nvdisplay.container.exe must first be closed with administrator rights. According to deskmodder.de the subfolder DisplayDriverRAS has been added somewhere in the near past to the Nvidia Geforce 430.xx graphics driver. This also seems to have something to do with the telemetry data acquisition by the Nvidia driver.

Addendum: GeForce Hotfix driver 430.53 released

Nvidia has now released the GeForce Hotfix Treiber 430.53 to correct the high CPU Load issues. From the changelog:

Fixes higher CPU usage by NVDisplay.Container.exe introduced in 430.39 driver

The changelog with more details and download links may be found here.
