Kurze Information für Nutzer des Microsoft Edge-Browsers, die ein sogenanntes Primär-Passwort verwendet haben. Microsoft hat gerade diese Funktion als "deprecated" erklärt und wird diese bis Sommer 2026 entfernen.
Das Ganze findet sich in der Release Summary der Ankündigung für den Version 145.0.3800.70: February 20, 2026 (Stable) vom 20. Februar 2026. Dort heißt es:
Custom primary password deprecation. Users will no longer be able to create a new custom primary password in Edge Settings
edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings. Users who already have a custom primary password configured will see a warning that the feature will not be available from June 4, 2026. On June 4, 2026, any users who are still using a custom primary password will be automatically migrated to device authentication.
Mit der 145.0.3800.70 lässt sich das Primär-Passwort schon nicht mehr neu vergeben. Am 4. Juni 2026 wird die Unterstützung des Passworts entfernt. Die Nutzer werden auf Geräte-Authentifizierung umgestellt. Das Ganze ist deskmodder.de aufgefallen, die noch einige Informationen dazu gegeben.
