Windows 7/8.1 Preview Rollup Updates (25. April 2019)

[English]Zum 25. April 2019 hat Microsoft ein Preview Rollup Update KB4493453 für Windows 7 sowie Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 freigegeben. Gleichzeitig wurde ein Preview Rollup Update KB4493443 für Windows 8.1 sowie Windows Server 2012 R2 veröffentlicht. Ergänzung: Es gibt auch ein Update KB4496878 mit Korrekturen am japanischen Kalender.

Preview Rollup Updates sind optional, quasi zum Testen, deren Inhalt wird zum nachfolgenden regulären Patchday dann allgemein freigegeben.

Auffällig ist, dass die Preview Rollup Updates nicht zum 3. oder 4. Dienstag im Monat, sondern in der 4. Woche des April mit einigen Tagen Verspätung freigegeben wurden. Auch enthalten die KB-Artikel eine Warnung vor bekannten Problemen im Zusammenhang mit Antivirus-Lösungen von Drittherstellern. Diese Probleme hatten Nutzer ja bereits im Zusammenhang mit den Sicherheitsupdates vom 9. April 2019 beobachtet.

Updates für Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2

Für Windows 7 SP1 und Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 wurde ein Preview Rollup Update freigegeben. Die Update-Historie für Windows 7 ist auf dieser Microsoft-Seite zu finden.

KB4493453 (Preview Monthly Rollup) Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2

Update KB4493453 (Preview Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) enthält Verbesserungen und Bug-Fixes, die im Folgemonat ausgerollt werden sollen. Im KB-Artikel wird darauf hingewiesen, dass dieses Update nicht mehr die PciClearStaleCache.exe zum Fixen von Netzwerkproblemen enthält. Falls es zu Problemen kommen, bitte unter KB4493453 nachlesen, was es zu wissen gibt. Das Update adressiert gemäß folgender Liste zum x-ten Mal das Problem, dass der japanische Kalender zum 1. Mai 2019 eine neue Zeitrechnung erhalten hat. Hier die Details:

• Updates fonts to support the new Japanese Era. For more information, see KB4469068.
• Addresses an issue that prevents an input method editor (IME) from supporting the new Japanese Era character. For more information, see KB4469068.
• Addresses an issue that causes the Clock and Calendar flyout control to display the day of the week incorrectly mapped to a date in the month of the new Japanese Era. For more information, see KB4469068.
• Adds alternative fonts for the new Japanese Era fonts. For more information, see KB4469068.

Das Update wird automatisch von Windows Update heruntergeladen und installiert. Es ist aber auch über den Microsoft Update Catalog herunterladbar. Microsoft empfiehlt dringend, vor der Installation des neuesten Rollups das aktuelle Service Stack Update (SSU) KB4490628 zu installieren. Bei Windows Update wird das SSU automatisch vorher angeboten.

Da es sich um ein Vorschau-Rollup handelt, würde ich dieses ausblenden, es sei denn, es gibt spezielle Anforderungen zum Testen. Hintergrund ist auch, dass das  Preview Rollup Update gleich mehrere bekannter Probleme hat:

• Nach der Installation dieses Updates berichten einige Kunden, dass die Authentifizierung für Dienste, die nach Ablauf des Kerberos-Tickets eine uneingeschränkte Delegation erfordern, fehlschlägt (Standard ist 10 Stunden). So schlägt beispielsweise der SQL-Serverdienst fehl.
• Weiterhin weist Microsoft auf Installations- und sonstige Probleme im Zusammenhang mit Antiviruslösungen von Sophos, Avira, Avast, ArcaBit und Mc Afee hin, die schon beim Sicherheitsupdate vom 9. April 2019 für Ärger sorgten.

Microsoft untersucht die Probleme mit den AV-Lösungen in Zusammenarbeit mit deren Herstellern. Im KB-Artikel finden sich Hinweise und Links zu den Supportartikeln der AV-Hersteller.

Updates für Windows 8.1/Windows Server 2012 R2

Für Windows 8.1 und Windows Server 2012 R2 wurde ein Preview Rollup Update freigegeben. Die Update-Historie für Windows 8.1 ist auf dieser Webseite zu finden.

KB4493443 (Preview Monthly Rollup) Windows 8.1/Windows Server 2012 R2

Update KB4493443 steht für Windows 8.1 und Windows Server 2012 R2 als Preview of Monthly Rollup bereit. Es handelt sich um kein Sicherheitsupdate. Das Preview Rollup adressiert folgende Probleme:

Also auch hier der Versuch, mit dem Update die Änderung am japanischen Kalender zu patchen. Das Update wird automatisch von Windows Update heruntergeladen und installiert. Es ist aber auch über den Microsoft Update Catalog herunterladbar.

Das Vorschau-Rollup sollte ausgeblendet und nicht installiert werden – sofern es nicht spezielle Anforderungen zum Testen gibt. Hintergrund ist, dass das Preview Rollup Update die beim obigen Windows 7 Preview Rollup Update beschriebenen Probleme mit Drittanbieter Antivirus-Lösungen hat.

Zudem kann es nach der Installation dieses Updates zu Problemen mit der Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) kommen. Das tritt auf, wenn ein Gerät von einem Windows Deployment Services (WDS)-Server zu starten ist, der für die Verwendung der Variable Window Extension konfiguriert ist. Dies kann dazu führen, dass die Verbindung zum WDS-Server während des Herunterladens des (Betriebssystemabbilds) vorzeitig beendet wird. Dieses Problem betrifft nicht Clients oder Geräte, die keine Variable Window Extension verwenden.

Weiterhin können bestimmte Aktionen, wie z. B. Umbenennen, die Sie an Dateien oder Ordnern durchführen, die sich auf einem Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) befinden, mit mit dem Fehler "STATUS_BAD_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL (0xC00000A5)" fehlschlagen. Dies tritt auf, wenn Sie die Aktion auf einem CSV-Eigentümerknoten aus einem Prozess ausführen, der keine Administratorrechte hat.

Update KB4496878 für Windows 8.1

Ergänzung: Microsoft hat am 25. April 2019 auch noch das Update KB4496878 für Windows 8.1 und Windows Server 2012 R2 freigegeben. Das ist kein Vorschau-Update und patcht den japanischen Kalender.
