I was able to update my Firefox 55.0.2 manually using the browser's help menu.

Firefox 55.0.3

The release notes dated from August 25, 2017 lists only two bug fixes.

  • Fix file uploads to some websites, including YouTube (bug 1383518)
  • Fix an issue with addons when using a path containing non-ascii characters (bug 1389160)

Within my German blog, some users are reporting that auto-update recognized this new version. One reader noted, that he can close Firefox only with Alt+F4 (since Firefox 55). This bug hasn't been fixed. Another reader mentioned, that Firefox 55.0.3 loses Favicons of added bookmarks during restart.
