Microsoft Office Patchday (January 2, 2019)

[German]For the first Tuesday of the month (Office Patchday), Microsoft has released some non-security updates for Microsoft Office 2010, Office 2013, and Office 2016 on January 2, 2019.

The updates refer to the installable MSI version of Office and are shipped via Windows Update. Click-to-run packages receive updates through other channels. As a result, Office 2019 will no longer appear in the list below, where only click-to-run installers will be available.

Updates that are not relevant to security are documented on this website (deleted) and in the KB articles linked below. Here is the list of updates.

Office 2010

To install these updates, you must have Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 2 installed. 

  • Update for Microsoft Excel 2010 (KB4461627): Make changes to Japanese calendar – requires installation of additional updates from Dec./January.
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB4032217): Make changes to Japanese calendar – requires installation of additional updates from Dec./January.
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB4032225): Make changes to Japanese calendar – requires installation of additional updates from Dec./January.
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB4461616): Make changes to Japanese calendar – requires installation of additional updates from Dec./January.

The changes to the Japanese calendar will become necessary when the Japanese Emperor abdicates in May 2019 and a new Emperor takes office.

Office 2013

  • Update for Microsoft Project 2013 (KB4461560): Make changes to Japanese calendar.
  • Update for Skype for Business 2015 (KB4461557): Updates Microsoft Skype for Business 2015 (Lync 2013) to version 15.0.5101.1002.

Office 2016

  • Update for Skype for Business 2016 (KB4461586): Updates Microsoft Skype for Business 2016 to version 16.0.4795.1002. 
  • Update for Microsoft Excel 2016 (KB4461600): Various fixes for Excel errors according to KB articles. 
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB3203480): Make changes to Japanese calendar.
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4032230): Fixes the error that add-ins could not be started.
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4461435): The Database Compare tool has been updated to require Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 and no longer works with previous versions of Microsoft Report Viewer. See KB4485028 for more information.
  • Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4461533): Bug fix for the error that the scanning performance of third-party antivirus scanners from Windows 10, Version 1709, is negatively affected when opening Office documents.
  • Update for Microsoft Project 2016 (KB4461587): Fix several bugs in Project. 
  • Update for Microsoft Visio 2016 (KB4461531): Fix several bugs in Visio.
