Thunderbird 78.3.3 released

[German]The developers of the Thunderbird e-mail client have released version 78.3.3 of the e-mail client on October 16, 2020. This is a maintenance update for the 78 main version of the e-mail client, which fixes bugs in the OpenPGP area.

The colleagues at deskmodder.de noticed the update – my Thunderbird still runs with the 68 branch. According to the release notes there are the following fixes: 

  • OpenPGP: Improved support for encrypting with subkeys
  • OpenPGP message status icons were not visible in message header pane
  • OpenPGP Key Manager was missing from Tools menu on macOS
  • Creating a new calendar event did not require an event title

The following known issues are is still listed: Message list is not focused at startup

System requirements

The system requirements for the different operating system versions (see also here, where further details can be found): 

  • Windows: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Mac: Mac OS X 10.9 or higher
  • Linux: GTK+ 3.4 or higher
